Clarity is Not Found, But Built

From Confusion to Direction

When we are confused, we don’t know what direction to go. Clarity gives that direction in life. It helps in understanding that this is my path. And once we have clarity in whatever we are thinking, doing, or feeling, we can start the journey to experience the life we want. Or we could say, design the life we desire to live.

Clarity comes from the space of knowing what you want, in all possible areas of life, like emotional, mental, social, financial, spiritual, and physical.

It’s important to have clarity because it will help us move forward in life. It helps in making decisions. It helps in taking responsibility.

Confusion creates uncertainty, and clarity calls for certainty. And certainty is what we all are looking for in our lives.

Clarity comes from the space of knowing what you want, what you desire, what feels certain, in all possible areas of life—like emotional, mental, social, financial, spiritual, and physical. Clarity is a destination which will help design our path to achieve it.

Clarity is the choice we make and also hold ourselves responsible for the choice.

How Clarity Shows Up and Why It Matters

And that can be done in many ways.

For some, clarity comes through writing—like a brain dump.
For some, clarity comes through talking—like having conversations with a non-judgmental person.
For some, clarity comes through self-talk—like saying things out loud to yourself.
For some, clarity comes through thinking—like sitting or walking in nature.
For some, clarity comes from others’ experience—like watching something, reading books, or listening to others.
For some, clarity comes while meditating—like they are just focusing on their breath.
For some, clarity comes in sleep—like they are sleeping over a question and the question is answered in their dreams.

There are different ways and forms in which one gets clarity. What is yours?

Clarity leads to a path where one could take action. But is action the next step for clarity?

Clarity helps one grow and evolve in life.

It’s important for each individual to know what they want in all the different areas, and only then can actions be taken to achieve it. Clarity is important for anyone who has dreams. Clarity of one’s dreams makes it achievable.

Clarity takes us to a space where we want to succeed in life. Any shape or form of success would need clarity.

Clarity takes away the confusion out of life.

Clarity can sometimes bring fear or courage, depending on our blueprints.

Choosing Clarity and Living It

Anyone who moves on the path of searching for clarity is the person who wants to design their life and experience it. They are people who want to live life on their own terms.

When I am saying clarity is not found, it means that we have to decide we don’t want to just let life happen to us; rather, we want to make it happen by choice.

The first step is clarity on the journey of anyone’s growth in any area of life. Once that’s achieved is only when a person can decide to take the next step.

When I am saying it’s the first step, it means that it’s a decision one is taking—that I want to evolve and move forward. I don’t want to stay stuck in the situation I am in. I want to make the best of this life. I want to make life available for me.

In our daily lives, we just keep going with the flow and don’t think that we have a choice to design our lives. Once we realise that we can design our lives, and to do so we need to have clarity of what we actually want from our lives. And to get it, we need to understand what is the value and importance of having clarity in our lives.

There is a difference between living in the flow state and going with the flow. Living in the flow state comes from clarity, and going with the flow is all about just living life mindlessly without taking action for the life one wants—just dreaming, and the dreams changing every day.

No clarity is how we start living our lives, following just the rules of society, not thinking what we actually want, which would sometimes mean thinking out of the box.

Places where clarity could be used are
Emotional, Mental, Social, Financial, Spiritual, and Physical.

Clarity is of two types—

  1. Clarity for different phases of life
  2. Clarity about our purpose

Does it change? Yes, it does. And yes, for some it may not. So be sure there is no wrong or right thing.

For example—My daughter had the clarity that she wanted to study music and become a pop star when she was a child, say almost when she was 10 or 11. Now, when she is studying music, her clarity just to become a pop star has moved to having her own talent company as well. She wants to sign record labels but, at the same time, wants to have her own talent company. That changed as she grew up, experienced the world, and now has a better understanding of what she wants.

Another example from my life—I was clear before my marriage that I am supposed to be a good daughter, wife, daughter-in-law, and mother (supposed to be, as I was conforming to society). This was my clarity then. As I moved into these roles, I started feeling confused as to, is this exactly what I want in my life? I started with a trial-and-error journey, trying to do a lot of things and discarding what was not aligning. Each time I discarded something, I was asking questions to myself—the right questions that helped me move towards my clarity, my mission, and vision of life. And once I was clear what I wanted, I could take the next steps to reach where I am today.

Having this kind of clarity lets one be consistent on their path, have faith instead of fear, and also get into the space of taking actions. It can sometimes also happen that we deviate from the path, but the best is that whenever we get back, we can start from where we were. This deviation is generally because of the pressure we feel from our emotional, mental, social, financial, spiritual, and physical spaces.

Understanding these deviations happens when we give time to ourselves and have the desire to achieve and feel fulfilled in life.

One of the most important lessons of life is: “To focus on the effort, not the outcome.” This comes with clarity, and this creates consistency and discipline, which in turn make the desired life possible.

The Process of Building Clarity

The process of clarity is

  • When one wants clarity, they need to cut the outside noise and forget conformity.
  • They have to start looking within.
  • Understand your truth and beliefs and align it with your reality.
  • Then comes removing everything that’s not serving you and changing the narrative or story attached to it.
  • Start taking ownership and accountability, and now with clarity, you could design your life.

Building clarity basically means moving from a path of confusion to direction. It also involves asking the right questions to oneself and answering them.

The moment you choose clarity, you stop living by default and start living by design.

Micro Exercise

Write down:

  • What do I truly want?
  • What am I currently doing?
  • Where is the gap?

Closing Reflection

Pause and ask yourself —

What is one area of your life where you need clarity today?

CLARITY IS NOT SOMETHING YOU WAIT FOR. IT IS SOMETHING YOU CHOOSE.
